Mid Wales Arts is a not-for-profit, voluntary organization that works with artists, young people and the local community to develop access to the arts at all levels in Mid Wales.
The center is run for and by artists, volunteers and good will. Entrance is free. The main house of Mid Wales Arts, originally named Maesmawr, dates back to 1526 and was originally a Welsh longhouse that grew into a successful farm.
In addition to regular pottery and ceramic sculpture classes, Mid Wales Arts has 2 large electric kilns, a wood burning kiln and a Raku kiln. Weekend courses, artists residencies and internships are also offered.
Mid Wales Arts has grown as a result of an initiative by Powys Arts Forum’s Harvesting the Arts, which encouraged collaborative projects between creatives in the area. Artists are involved in the direction of the center, offering workshops, talks and demonstrations.
